Recombinant Human Platelet Derived Growth Factor (rHu PDGF) is a mitogenic peptide growth hormone carried in the alpha-granules of platelets and released when platelets adhere to traumatized tissues. Connective tissue cells near the traumatized region respond by initiating the process of replication.
PDGF-AA functions as a mitogenic factor, and is involved in hyperplasia, cell migration, embryonic neuron development, and angiogenesis.
PDGF-AA produced in yeast is a homodimeric glycosylated, polypeptide containing two amino acid chains and having a total molecular mass of 34Kda.
